상상의 세계를 그리는 작가, 로렌 모슬리 (Lauren Morsley)

로렌 모슬리(Lauren Morsley)는 넓은 숲과 바다, 바람이 부는 언덕이 펼쳐진 자연이 아름다운 곳인 영국 스코틀랜드에서 자란 작가입니다.
어릴 때부터 그림 그리기를 좋아했고, 자연 속에서 본 것들을 상상하며 그림으로 표현하곤 했습니다.

그녀는 던디(Dundee)에 있는 Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design에서 일러스트레이션을 공부하며 본격적으로 예술 작업을 시작했습니다.

지금은 일러스트레이터이자 프린트메이커, 벽화 작가로 활동하며
Urban Outfitters, The Guardian, Apple 같은 다양한 브랜드와 함께 작업해왔습니다.

로렌은 “이 장면 속에 들어가 보고 싶다”는 느낌을 중요하게 생각하며,
밝고 다양한 색으로 마치 다른 세계를 여행하듯 몰입할 수 있는 장면을 만들어냅니다.

로렌의 그림 속에는 상상의 세계에서 온 것 같은 친구들과 생명체들이 등장하며,
하나의 이야기로 정해져 있지 않아 보는 사람마다 다른 상상을 하며 자연스럽게 빠져들 수 있습니다.

그녀의 그림은 정답을 찾기보다,  자유롭게 상상하고 머무르며 자신만의 이야기를 만들어가는 경험을 전합니다.

Lauren Morsley: Imagined Worlds

Lauren Morsley is an artist who grew up in Scotland, UK, a place known for its beautiful natural landscapes of wide forests, open seas, and windswept hills.
From a young age, she loved drawing and often expressed what she saw in nature through her imagination.

She studied Illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, where she began developing her artistic practice.

Today, she works as an illustrator, printmaker, and mural artist, collaborating with a range of brands including Urban Outfitters, The Guardian, and Apple.

Lauren places great importance on the feeling of “wanting to step into a scene.”
Through bold and vibrant colours, she creates immersive images that feel like stepping into another world.

Her works are filled with characters and creatures that seem to come from imagined worlds.
Rather than following a single fixed story, her images invite each viewer to create their own interpretations and become naturally absorbed in them.

Instead of offering a single answer, her work encourages viewers to imagine freely, pause, and create their own stories within the scene.
