YANGHEE CHANG
After painting many trees in
familiar shades of green, I once encountered a tree with a subtle mint hue —
its freshness inspired me to paint it.
In my work, nature represents the
Other, something beyond the human self. I realised that repeatedly depicting
similar trees might diminish that meaning, so I began seeking more diverse
natural forms to suggest the existence of many kinds of Otherness.
From this thought, I plan to expand
my imagery further — toward stones, strata, and tree rings — tracing nature’s
endless variations as reflections of our own.
